The Magnificent Vranyczanys : the artistic, historic and political contribution of one noble family
14 May – 21 August 2016
The exhibition presents the history and importance of a well known noble family
Vranyczany-Dobrinović in Croatian areas from the 15th century until today. Apart from their important role in Croatian politics, Vranyczany-Dobrinović family members are remembered as great philanthropists, patrons and donors, collectors and builders of representative structures, successful and progressive businessmen and drivers of social life in the cities in which they lived (Stari Grad on Hvar, Senj, Rijeka, Karlovac, Zagreb). The exhibition presents numerous valuable historical documents related to activities of the Vranyczanys, portraits of prominent members of the family, as well as works of Croatian modernists to whom the Vranyczanys were patrons (Bukovac, Medović, Mašić, Krizman, Rački and others). In addition to exhibits from the holdings of the Museum of Arts and Crafs the exhibition presents artifacts from other museums and private collections. A large part of the exhibited items have never been presented to the public before. The accompanying program of the exhibition includes thematic tours, lectures, creative workshops and a rich souvenir production.
